The human camera Print E-mail

By Conrad

Check out this video of a human camera. He takes a 45 minute Helicopter ride over rome and then draws the arial view of all the streets, the exact number of columns in the ruins, windows in buildings... you get the "picture"... it's mind blowing!

.. Enjoy!

Man , Thats was unbelieveable , truly awesome !!!!! Talk about the minds eye and power of retention , this guy is way past all that. Thanks Con , will have to keep looking at it over and over again to truly appreciate the depth of it all , could it be a gift of extra sensory perception ?  I feel its surely much more than just photographic memory.

I am dumbfounded.. Based on this video here, I browsed a bit and found that this guy's name is Stephen Wiltshire (born 1974) and he has been diagnosed with  a disorder called Savant Syndrome (It is a rare, but extraordinary, condition in which persons with serious mental disabilities, including autistic disorder, have some 'island of genius' that stands in marked, incongruous contrast to overall handicap.). It’s also called autistic spectrum disorder. There a lot of information about him , his work and about this disorder on several websites.

Thanks to you, Conrad!! I learnt something new.

Thanks Anne!  Yeah Stephen Wiltshire is at the other end of the Savant spectrum.  A Genius Savant !    Einstein was a Savant!   I just found out that a Savant's brain does not have 2 spheres like regular humans.  It's all one!

This is brilliant; it was liked watching Goggle Earth come to life. This guy once painted a London scene and got slated for being a load of rubbish and the painting did not make any sense. It was only discovered some time later  that the scene was perfectly accurate with great detail when viewed through a mirror. He had painted this scene the wrong way round than how we would see it. That's a fabulous talent.
