Brisbanites party for a cause Down Under Print E-mail

Brisbane came alive on the 9th September 2006. Everyone from Anglo’s to Goan’s showed that they could party for a cause. The Queensland Aust-Ind Association along with the Goan community organized a dance with the help of businessman Ivan Colaco of VSIO & Shyamdas of Target Travels to raise funds for the upkeep of Our Lady Of Vellankani statue which stands in the Marion Valley on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The dance got under way at about 7Pm with music by “Just mates” comprising of Brian DeClause, Gerard (Pixie) DeRozario, Clive Henderson, Kenny Tapp & Jude Yourey. There was also a relief DJ who kept the ball going. There was the “Spot Dance” & Lucky Door prizes which included an air ticket to Sydney. Eyvonne Vincent made sure that everyone had their raffle tickets.


All in all it was good fun and all proceeds from the dance went towards the upkeep of the statue which is in the good hands of Joseph Thomas and the priests at Marion Valley. I’ve posted a few photographs for those who want to catch up with long lost friends.

That's a very good cause that proceeds are going to. I like the photos, these must be the posh Anglos. Everyone looks very smart and having a good time.
