Our family were Survey of India,  Grandfather,  Father and  two brothers.
The  Survey of India only had two offices, one in Calcutta and one in Dehra Dun ,originally  established by Col. Everest in Mussoorie.

Ray Rees-Olivere jazz musician extrodinaire and a well travelled one at that. Performed at slick Jazz clubs and recorded countless radio and television shows under the stage name of Lance Raymond. This is his story.

Prior to 110 Squadron RAF arriving in Singapore, the sqdn. was based at Butterworth, Malaya and most of us on the sqdn. with married families were living in Penang (1962/63).

Beverley David Pearson was an up-country born lad who grew up in Calcutta. Schooled as a boarder in Bangalore (Bishop Cotton) and graduated with a BA Hons degree from St. Xavier’s College in Calcutta. Started life as a school teacher in St James School and moved to The Statesman as a management trainee in ‘61. Married Verna Robinson the same year and in ‘65 migrated to London. Pursued a successful career in publishing but found England cold, crowded, cramped and expensive. Migrated again… to Sydney in ’82 where he and his family have settled very happily.
